As you might have heard already if you live in California and are a member of the NSXCA, it appears to be about time that we, the original old California geezers NSX "club", did something different to get your attention - something aimed at increasing participation at a local level - especially for all the newbies that have not owned the car for 15 years. Just an occasional post/smack talking session on NSXPRIME or organizing the odd track event or yearly dinner get together wasn't cutting it, so we decided to reinvent the wheel. That became the NSX-CA wheel!
So what's knew you ask? Well, we have a new website dedicated to all California NSX owners! One that is updated more than once year, (what a concept) and with all the bells and whistles:
The idea of joining the SoCal, NorCal, CoastalCal and yes CentralCal owners under one roof germinated just a few weeks ago and all of a sudden took fire and developed a life of its own. Maybe it was the Santa Ana winds - or too much Starbucks? Now that most of the construction dust has settled, one wonders why this was not done earlier; after all, we Californians are blessed to live in car heaven! We may still argue endlessly about car wax, or whose track times are better, but we all share the same passion for the NSX - be it for go fast bragging rights, mod roll call list championship trophy's or the ultimate garage queen status. Some of us even drive the cars daily year round!
In less than 3 weeks of tossing the idea amongst a few of us, we had sponsors and supporters clamoring to be part of this venture. The webguys worked feverishly (this helps) and designed what I think is a great website that is simple to navigate. There are no fees to join, no membership dues, no "Bylaws" to speak of in our virtual NSX Club. Joining this CA focused club is free thanks to the sponsors and does not compete with the national NSXCA as an either/or deal. You can be member of both. All you need besides an NSX and a CA address is a positive attitude and the rest will take care of itself (we hope). As an added bonus, we have no self appointed, or should we say self anointed list/membership overseer for life with arbitrary and capricious dictatorial powers! No one will tell you to "RTFM" or say "did you LOOK in the FAQ before opening your yapper" (although it does help) or accuse you of being an idiot or ban you from the list if you do not agree with them.
So here is your opportunity to re-engage with the larger NSX community on your own terms in case you have strayed off and be free to express yourself ... all views are welcome as long as we all remain civil. If you would not say it to someone in person at a dinner party in front of everyone else, please leave it in your draft folder or "take it private" from the start. If no one takes the bait - trollers eventually leave. Subscribe to one, none or all of the regional lists as you see fit.
We hope that you will give it a try. (and our sponsors are counting on it!*) Visit the new website and judge for yourself. You have nothing to loose and perhaps much to gain in making some new friends and finding other owners of similar interest in your virtual neighborhood.
